It is because of LOVE that my dad is happier today than he’s ever been, in spite of being paralyzed for the rest of his life from a car accident.
The accident was in April of 2013 (almost 2 years ago). It left him with lots of broken ribs, severe internal damage and permanently paralyzed from the waist down.
The doctors told him he would never be able to go home, and would never walk again. And after about 10 months in and out of ICU he went home for the first time!! It’s not only a miracle he SURVIVED the wreck , an even bigger miracle he is home living his life.
But this accident has done way more than just take away his ability to walk. It’s put LOVE back in his heart. To see how much others loved and cared for him through this. He is the happiest he has ever been.
It sounds crazy, but it’s true. The hardest working, most independent man I know, who now has to rely on others to care for him for the rest of his life… is happier than he was BEFORE the car accident. It’s undeniable that something much bigger is going on.
It’s an absolute miracle what’s happened to his outlook on life & how many hearts have been changed in the process.
All through LOVE.
This time last year just a few days after dad was released from the hospital to go home, I got baptized. It was on tv so my dad could tune in and watch. His buddy Lloyd took this picture of me getting ‘dunked’ and dad watching.
This picture took my breath away when I received it. Thinking of everything that led up to that moment, knowing it probably would not have happened if my dad had not been in the ‘accident’.
It’s clear this was about more than a car accident. It’s about more than dad becoming paralyzed. And God had something much bigger planned than any of us anticipated.
So, how does this relate to ADOPTION? It’s simple.
God is love. Adoption is love. Our purpose in this life is to love others.
No. Matter. What.
Because it’s through LOVE that lives are changed.
Be patient. Have faith. LOVE works miracles in unexpected ways.
